For the first time ever, Palestine will have a representative at the Miss Universe competition, as Nadeen Ayoub, 2022 Miss Palestine, prepares to take the global stage in Thailand on November 21.

The 27-year-old shared the news in an Instagram video, wearing a traditional Palestinian dress designed by Hiba Abdel Karim. The outfit, embroidered with the nation’s iconic colors and symbols, was more than a fashion statement; it was a proud declaration of Palestinian heritage on an international platform.

“This is not just about me,” Ayoub said. “I walk the stage carrying the dreams of Palestinian girls, the dignity of our mothers, and the voice of a homeland that lives in our hearts.” Her words reflect a vision of beauty as a tool for influence, leadership, and cultural storytelling, rather than just competition.

Ayoub’s participation has sparked widespread praise on social media. One user wrote, “We need more such representation ❤.” Another commented, “All the love and support❤.” A third fan said, “So happy to see Palestine represented on the global stage🇵🇸 May your beauty and voice shine as a symbol of strength, hope, and peace🙏🏼.”

Another follower added, “THIS is what pageantry is really about. I am beyond excited to see your reign and watch you use this platform to amplify your voice and the voice of your country ❤ Congratulations habibti, cannot wait for the world to see you shine on that stage 🇵🇸🤍.” One user wrote, “Beautiful just as your beautiful country! Free Palestine 🇵🇸😍❤,” while another said, “Mashallah so proud of you Palestine 🇵🇸 Always in my prayers ❤.”

Nadeen Ayoub is no stranger to representing Palestine on international platforms. She was previously crowned Miss Earth 2022 in the Philippines, further solidifying her role as a global ambassador. Beyond pageantry, she is a nutrition and health coach, entrepreneur, and co-founder of the Olive Green Academy in Dubai, which leverages artificial intelligence to promote sustainability.

Her activism extends to humanitarian work, environmental protection, and supporting children with disabilities and abused families. Through these efforts, Ayoub has built a reputation for combining beauty with purpose, proving that elegance can coexist with social responsibility and meaningful advocacy.

Her participation in Miss Universe is especially significant as Palestine continues to endure genocide by Israel. The genocide in Gaza, which began in October 2023, has killed more than 61,000 Palestinians and injured over 151,000, with women and children making up the majority of victims. Entire families have been wiped out, and millions have been forced from their homes.

The destruction across Gaza is immense. Satellite data shows over 102,000 buildings have been completely destroyed, and nearly 80 percent of all structures are damaged or reduced to rubble. The healthcare system is on the brink of collapse, with only 19 of Gaza’s 36 hospitals remaining operational. Many provide only limited emergency care, while doctors perform surgeries without proper supplies or anesthesia.

Schools and UN shelters, where families sought safety, have been bombed, resulting in thousands of deaths. More than 400 aid workers and over 1,300 health workers have been reported killed as of April 2025. Journalists have faced unprecedented targeting, with over 260 media workers killed, according to reports.

Starvation has been deliberately used as a weapon, leaving children malnourished and millions at risk of dying from hunger. The starvation death toll has now reached 240, including 107 children, according to Aljazeera.
