Director General (DG) Immigration and Passports Muhammad Ali Randhawa has announced that passports will be delivered directly to citizens’ homes starting July 1, a move aimed at cutting down long queues and repeated visits to passport offices.

Randhawa made the announcement during a visit to various passport sections, where he met citizens, heard their complaints and directed officials to resolve grievances on the spot.

He instructed courier companies to ensure timely and secure delivery under strict compliance measures, adding that the home delivery system would operate in a transparent manner and spare citizens unnecessary trips to offices.

The DG stressed that providing fast and citizen-friendly passport services remains a top priority for the government, and that further reforms would follow.

Separately, Randhawa held a meeting with NADRA Chairman Lieutenant General Muhammad Munir Afsar, where both sides agreed to strengthen cooperation between the two institutions.

The meeting resulted in a decision to introduce QR code-based payment options via JazzCash, EasyPaisa and 1LINK, allowing citizens to pay passport fees through digital platforms.

Officials said that the initiative is part of wider efforts to expand digital services across government departments. The meeting also covered administrative matters and ongoing digital reforms at NADRA headquarters.

Randhawa also reviewed steps to speed up the data entry process and assessed the department’s broader development agenda. Progress had already been made toward digitising passport fee payments ahead of the latest round of reforms.
