Pat Cummins, wife welcome baby girl

Feb 08

Australian captain Pat Cummins and his wife, Becky, have welcomed their second child, a baby girl named Edi.

The couple shared the news on Instagram on Saturday, expressing their immense joy. Cummins had skipped Australia's tour of Sri Lanka to be with his family for the birth.

Meanwhile, Australia is facing a growing injury crisis ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy. Fast bowlers Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood have been ruled out of the Sri Lanka series after ankle and hip injuries, adding to the team's woes after Mitchell Marsh's withdrawal and Marcus Stoinis' surprise retirement.

These setbacks leave Australia searching for four replacements, including two all-rounders, to maintain balance in the squad.

Cummins' injury stems from the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, where he bowled the most overs and took 25 wickets. Hazlewood has been dealing with multiple injuries, including side and calf strains. Both pacers require a long rehabilitation period, casting doubt over their availability for the Indian Premier League (IPL) as well.

Australia's final Champions Trophy squad will be announced after the second Test against Sri Lanka in Galle. Their next major international assignment will be the ICC World Test Championship final against South Africa at Lord's in June.
