Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif warned on Tuesday that some countries were unhappy with the ceasefire agreement between US and Iran and were actively working to derail it by creating confusion, doubt and uncertainty.

Speaking at a joint press conference with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian at the Prime Minister House, PM Shehbaz said that he and the Iranian president are completely resolved to stand together “like an iron wall” against such efforts.

He said that Islamabad and Tehran had “consistently stood by one another in difficult times,” adding that recent events had reaffirmed the “enduring strength of this brotherhood, this friendship and this partnership.”

PM Shehbaz described the talks with Pezeshkian as “very productive” and held in a “very cordial atmosphere,” comparing the meeting to a family reunion where “brothers were talking to each other with the fullest clarity and total commitment.”

He also announced he will travel to Tehran next week to pay respects to late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and reaffirm Pakistan’s solidarity with the Iranian people.

Pezeshkian was in Islamabad on a one-day official visit at PM Shehbaz’s invitation. The two leaders held a meeting at the Prime Minister House, followed by delegation-level talks.
