The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) has cleared Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif’s daughter Rabia Imran and her husband Ali Imran Yousaf of all charges in the Punjab Saaf Pani Company (PSPC) case.
According to a report submitted to an anti-corruption court, investigators found no evidence linking the couple to alleged irregularities within the company.
This development follows a prior acquittal of PM Shehbaz and other accused individuals in the same case
The case involves allegations of illegal monetary benefits tied to the rental of a building owned by the couple to the PSPC for use as an office.
The Saaf Pani investigation dates back to November 2017, when the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) initiated a probe into 56 public-sector companies established during Shehbaz Sharif’s tenure as Chief Minister of Punjab.
The investigations focused on recruitment violations, procurement rule breaches, nepotism, and project delays.
The case was shifted from an accountability court to the anti-corruption court after amendments to the National Accountability Ordinance resulted in the former losing jurisdiction.
Before returning to Pakistan to face these charges, Rabia and her husband had been declared proclaimed offenders due to their absence from the country. They successfully moved to have their arrest warrants suspended last week to allow for their surrender before the law.
