It was around 11 am in the morning when my Amma came to pick me up from school, and like any other child, I was happy about leaving early. It was 2006 and people were protesting on the roads against the blasphemous Danish cartoons that were published in Denmark. This was my first encounter with such protests.

It’s 2021, and people sitting in parliament are playing the religious card against each other and accusing each other of being a lesser Muslim.

Well, the news was not really positive today either unless you live in a parallel universe like Rohail Hyatt. ?

It will rain again in Lahore and Islamabad, and sunny in other major cities!

TLP Issue Round-up?

A session of National Assembly was called yesterday to vote on the expulsion of the French ambassador from Pakistan. The session was attended by all major political parties except for the PPP, which boycotted it.

During the session a resolution related to a debate pertaining to this issue was tabled by a PTI lawmaker.

The resolution came after a series of meetings with the TLP and the government. The banned TLP had held the country hostage with violent protests that led to the killing of four police officers and left 800 police officers injured.

Heated words were also exchanged between former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Speaker NA Asad Qaiser.

Yesterday, rumours of TLP chief Saad Hussain Rizvi’s release from Kot Lakhpat Jail started doing the rounds on the media as well as social media. Public relations officer of the Punjab prisons department, Attiq Ahmed, confirmed Rizvi’s release to Dawn. Some other media outlets reported the same, but the reports of his release are false.

Senior Journalist Absar Alam attacked

Senior journalist and former chairman Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) Absar Alam was shot in Islamabad yesterday evening.

Absar recorded a video on his way to the hospital after being shot. He says he was shot in the stomach and is heading to the hospital and he will not lose hope.

It is still unclear who was behind the attack. There is a certain pattern of reactions we see when any journalist is attacked; one of those reactions we see is that the person faked or planned their own attack. I don’t get it how can someone plan an attack on themselves? And why would they? This is just preposterous. Such reactions are highly insensitive.

People who blame victims in these situations lack nothing but empathy.

As per the official Twitter account of Islamabad Police, a team has been directed to use all scientific and forensic methods to trace the accused involved in the incident.

PM Khan posts Bollywood clip to target Opposition, deletes post

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday posted something very interesting on his official Instagram account. Sharing a clip from the Bollywood movie ‘Inquilaab’, which was released in 1984, PM Imran made a point about political parties discrediting their rival political parties in order to replace them.

‘It is what has been planned against the PTI govt from day one by the corrupt mafias’, read the caption of the clip posted by the premier. The clip was later deleted from his Instagram account.

Komal Rizvi recently opened up about her divorce and abusive marriage of four years.

Detailing her harrowing experience on Nida Yasir’s Ramzan Special show along with Shoaib Malik, Rizvi said that she got divorced in 2019. Sharing details of her marriage, Rizvi said that after her marriage when she was in Oman with her husband, she had to go to the bed hungry several times due to her husband’s mistreatment.
