Police in Gujranwala have arrested a man and his neighbor on Tuesday for the murder of a woman and her minor daughter in the Rehmatpura area of Gajjakh.

The victims, identified as Nida and her young daughter, were found in their home on Sunday with their throats slit. Following the discovery, the City Police Officer (CPO) Gujranwala visited the site and directed teams to apprehend the suspects.

The prime suspect, Mustafa, is the victim’s husband. Investigators have stated that Mustafa and his wife often had domestic disagreements. He allegedly conspired with his neighbor, Yasir, to carry out the killings in exchange for a monetary payment.

During the initial phase of the investigation, Mustafa attempted to mislead officials, claiming that he became concerned when his wife stopped answering her phone calls, attempting to frame the incident as a suspicious discovery by a worried spouse.

However, police used modern investigative techniques to track the movements and communications of the suspects.

“The suspects confessed to the crime during interrogation,” police officials stated. Both Mustafa and Yasir are currently in custody, and authorities have indicated they will be presented before the media.
