Lahore police have arrested a male employee of the transport department for stalking a girl since seven months.

The girl, a student at a local university, blocked 70 numbers that the man, a motor vehicle examiner at the transport department, used to call her from.

She filed a case in Misri Shah against the harassment and black mailing. DIG Operations Faisal Kamran then formed a task force which immediately swung into action and arrested the stalker.

The student had alleged that the man was well-connected and had no fear of the law. Police have reportedly attained enough evidence to verify that the girls' claims are true.

DIG Operations Faisal Kamran told the police that the case was immediately attended to under Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz's zero-tolerance policy of crime against women.

He pointed out that trained units had been established in educational institutions to combat harassment while women can also complain instantly through emergency helplines and Women Safety App.
