A woman and her three children were found dead under mysterious circumstances at their rented house late on Friday night.
The tragic incident occurred in Lahore’s Valencia Town where law enforcement identified the deceased individuals as a mother, Aleena, and her three children, 16-year-old Rehan, 11-year-old Areesha and 6-year-old Arsal.
Initial assessments by the Model Town Superintendent of Police (SP) Operations and other police officials suggested that the deaths appeared to be a case of suicide and poisoning.
According to the landlord, namely Nasir Dogar, he discovered the four lying unconscious when he returned home from the market. Dogar informed the police that it appeared the mother first poisoned her children before taking her own life.
Upon receiving the alert, a specialised crime scene unit, police personnel and forensic experts rushed to the location to isolate the area for investigation. Forensic teams collected medical and physical samples from the residence for detailed laboratory analysis.
A separate police team has been tasked with interviewing the victims’ neighbours and close relatives while investigators also work to acquire security camera footage from the area to help resolve the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
