A formal inquiry has been launched into a Karachi Police Special Security Unit (SSU) officer after video footage surfaced online, showing him pulling a gun on commuters near the Metropole area.

The incident, which occurred last night, was triggered when drivers stuck in traffic honked their horns at the officer. According to the captured video, the SSU officer responded by drawing his firearm and pointing it directly toward the citizens. The footage also captures the officer swearing at the drivers on the street.

Rather than backing down, the surrounding crowd of bystanders and commuters began shouting back at the officer, filming the encounter on their mobile phones, and daring him to shoot. Following this vocal resistance from the public, the officer retreated from the scene.

After the video quickly spread across social media platforms, SSU officials took formal notice of the misconduct. The department has initiated an official inquiry into the officer’s behavior and unauthorized display of force.

As part of the investigation, authorities confirmed that statements from departmental personnel who were present with the officer during the incident will also be recorded.
