An 11-year-old girl named Hooram Saeed and a young woman named Jennifer Aamir Masih have been successfully recovered following a large-scale joint operation by the Sindh Police and Rangers in the Kot Shahu riverine area of Shikarpur. The two-day security action resulted in the deaths of two alleged criminals and injured approximately 15 suspected dacoits.

The case of Hooram Saeed, who was abducted from Peshawar, escalated into a national flashpoint after her mother Salima traveled to Sukkur to deliver a demanded ransom of 1.5 million rupees. According to her mother, the kidnappers took the money but subsequently held her captive as well before her eventual release. The case drew significant parliamentary attention and sparked widespread public outrage, as the videos surfacing on the internet alleged that the Pakhtun community had initiated an armed march into the riverine belt to rescue the child.

Shikarpur Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Muhammad Kaleem Malik confirmed that the operation intensified under intense public and political pressure. On the first day of the action, law enforcement personnel killed suspected bandit Ghulam Yaseen Banglani, who was wanted in 29 serious criminal cases and carried a bounty on his head. On the second day, security forces killed Mullah Waheed Arain, an alleged facilitator accused of kidnapping individuals from other provinces to sell them
to riverine gangs.

During the initial phase of the clearance operation, security forces first recovered Jennifer Aamir Masih, a Christian girl who had been lured from Lahore under the pretext of a fraudulent job offer and held hostage. Law enforcement personnel subsequently recovered Hooram on the second day of the raid. Following the rescue, the girl’s father, Saeed Khan, publicly credited community mobilization and public pressure for forcing the breakthrough, while police authorities stated that raids will continue to apprehend the remaining gang leaders
