Anne Hathaway is expanding her family, confirming that she is expecting her third child with husband Adam Shulman. The 43-year-old Oscar winner broke the news on Friday, June 19, via an Instagram video that accumulated six million views within 30 minutes of posting.

The social media clip shows Hathaway walking into a room in a white dress, dropping her crossed arms to display her pregnant belly, smiling, and walking away. She paired the video with the caption, “x Baby, I’m yours”.

The actress has been married to Shulman, an actor and producer, since 2012. They are already parents to two sons: ten-year-old Jonathan and six-year-old Jack.

The pregnancy coincides with an unusually busy professional period for Hathaway, who is managing multiple high-profile film projects.

She recently starred in the box-office hit The Devil Wears Prada 2 alongside Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci. She also recently appeared in the film Mother Mary and is set to star in the upcoming theatrical release The Odyssey, directed by Christopher Nolan.

Scheduled for release on July 17, The Odyssey marks her latest collaboration with Nolan after Interstellar and The Dark Knight Rises.

While promoting the Devil Wears Prada sequel in late April, Hathaway discussed her 25-year career and the significance of financial self-reliance as a working mother.

“It’s really amazing to be able to care for yourself economically,” Hathaway stated. “I have been working since I was a teenager and I’ve been in charge of my own finances for that same amount of time, which means that I’ve signed every single check in my life as an adult. I’ve paid my rent. I put myself through college. All of those things, I took on that financial responsibility”.

She noted that the independence defines her daily life. “My life feels very much like my own,” she said. “I don’t have to ask anyone for things. And I have no problems working to earn that freedom. I like it”.

Hathaway previously shared details about how her family balanced her heavy filming schedule this year, acknowledging Shulman’s role at home.

“He supports me completely. This year in particular was unusual,” she said. “He and I both know that it’s probably never going to happen like this again”.
