Advisor to Prime Minister Rana Sanaullah has dismissed speculation that President Asif Ali Zardari could step down, saying that he will complete his constitutional term.

Speaking to the media, Sanaullah rejected reports of President Zardari’s possible resignation, saying, “These are all rumours. President Zardari will complete his term.”

He also dismissed speculation about a widening rift between the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and PML-N, saying the PPP has raised some “reservations” that will be addressed through discussions.

“The PPP has some reservations, and we will resolve them,” Sanaullah said, adding that meetings are being held within the PML-N to discuss the issues.

His comments came amid speculation about the political relationship between the PPP and PML-N souring, as well as reports speculating that Zardari’s position as president is in danger.

Sanaullah stated that the differences between the two parties do not amount to a breakdown in their political relationship, stressing that the issues can be resolved through dialogue.

He also said the PPP will sit on the opposition benches in the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly, indicating that the party will remain in opposition in the assembly rather than join the government there.

The speculation followed elections in AJK, after PPP raised allegations of rigging against PML-N and expressed reservations over the electoral process.
