Industrialist Rehan Ashraf, owner of GMSA company, was shot dead in Faisalabad on the night of October 17 while trying to recover his stolen Toyota Cygnus SUV, according to media reports.

The FIR [First Information Report] states that Rehan arrived at Chenab Club around 9pm with his brother Muhammad Hassan Ashraf and some friends. They handed the white SUV, registered in Islamabad, and its keys to a valet parking attendant before going inside for dinner.

Hassan told the police that the vehicle’s tracking system stopped working during their time there. When they checked the parking area, they discovered that the SUV had been stolen and the attendant who had taken its keys was missing from duty.

He said that he contacted the tracking company and called the police emergency helpline 15. The company then began sharing the vehicle’s live location, allowing Rehan and his companions to follow it in another car.

According to the complaint, they traced the SUV to the Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) grid station on Jaranwala road and tried to stop it. One of the suspects opened fire at Rehan, hitting him in the neck. He died at the scene.

Civil Lines police registered a case on Hassan’s complaint under Sections 392 and 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code, which deal with robbery and murder, respectively. The FIR names two unidentified men as suspects and states that the complainant and other eyewitnesses can identify them if they are arrested.

Rehan was the son of Haji Ashraf Qadri, owner of GMSA Group, according to media reports.

Faisalabad City Police Officer (CPO) Tanvir Hussain took notice of the incident and sought a report from SP Iqbal Division Saeed Ahmed. Police are working to trace and arrest the suspects.
