Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Sohail Afridi has said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will march towards Islamabad on September 27 with two million supporters, while reaffirming the party’s commitment to the vision of its founding chairman Imran Khan.
Speaking at the inauguration of a tree plantation campaign in Spin Khak, Nowshera, Afridi said on Friday that the party will continue to follow Imran Khan’s vision, stressing that power and government positions had never been PTI’s primary objective.
He also called on residents of Spin Khak to participate in the party’s September 27 gathering in Islamabad.
During the ceremony, the chief minister planted a sapling to formally launch the campaign. Provincial Health Minister Khaliqur Rahman, Special Assistant on Forests Pir Masoor Ghazi and members of the provincial assembly were also present.
Addressing the plantation drive, Afridi pointed out that the provincial government had initially set a target of planting 1.4 million saplings in a single day, but the Forest Department exceeded the goal by planting 1.7 million.
He praised the department’s efforts, emphasising that public resources were being used for projects that would benefit future generations.
Afridi observed that residents of Garhi Chandan had earned Rs70 million through forest-related activities.
Referring to recent flash floods and cloudbursts, he directed authorities to expand the plantation campaign across the province.
He also instructed the Forest Department to establish tourist huts in forest areas and suggested encouraging foreign visitors to plant trees under their own names.
The chief minister added that public welfare remained PTI’s top priority and added that the provincial government’s ongoing initiatives were based on the ideas and vision presented by Imran Khan.
He further stated that PTI workers had joined the party to support constitutional supremacy and the rule of law.
