Punjab’s Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has issued strict directives to private and government schools that have failed to comply with government instructions on summer camps.

Hayat directed all District Education Authorities to carry out active monitoring and ensure the orders were being followed without exception.

Spelling out the rules, the minister said that schools had been given permission to run summer camps for one month only, with timings fixed from 7am to 10am, Monday through Thursday. He said that attendance was entirely subject to parental consent and that no school administration could compel children to show up.

He warned that if any school was found violating the prescribed timings or government guidelines, parents had the right to file complaints immediately.

Hayat also bound all District Education Authorities to go into the field and carry out on-ground monitoring of schools.
