Health authorities in Punjab have flagged multiple batches of medicines as unsafe, ordering an immediate recall after laboratory tests found them to be adulterated and substandard.

The Directorate of Drugs Control Punjab said that the alert was issued after checking by Drug Testing Laboratories, which identified three widely circulating products that failed quality standards.

Among the flagged products, Infusion GEE-Sol (NS) 1000 mL (Sodium Chloride 0.9% w/v), Batch No. 26A025 with expiry December 2027, has been declared substandard. Similarly, Infusion GEE-Sol RL 500 mL (Compound Sodium Lactate), Batch No. 25MM264 expiring in November 2027, was also found substandard.

In a more serious classification, Injection Neudex 1 mL (Dexamethasone Sodium Phosphate 4 mg/mL), Batch No. DX062 with expiry October 2027, has been declared adulterated.

Authorities have directed the manufacturer, market authorization holder, and distributor to immediately recall the affected batches from the market. They have also been instructed to provide a complete distribution record and upload a Recall Assessment Form on the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) portal.

Drug inspectors and field formations across Punjab have been ordered to step up surveillance of supply chains and initiate legal action where necessary under the Drugs Act, 1976, and the DRAP Act, 2012.

Officials warned that the use of these batches could pose health risks, urging the public and healthcare providers to stop using them immediately and report any adverse effects.
