The Punjab government has launched the ‘Punjab Green Credit Program’, under which residents can earn Green Credits worth Rs 20,000 by completing specified environmental friendly activities, including cycling.
Under the cycling initiative, participants must cover at least 75 kilometres and record their journey using the CM Punjab Green Credit Program Tracker App, according to details released by the government.
After completing the required distance, participants must submit a photograph of their bicycle and evidence of the trip recorded through the app on the programme’s online portal.
The required documents are to be submitted through an MRV form. MRV refers to the mechanism used to record and verify that the activity has been completed.
The government said the programme was initially designed for Lahore before being expanded across Punjab.
The initiative seeks to encourage residents to take part in activities considered beneficial to the environment while using digital tracking to verify participation and determine eligibility for Green Credits.
Cycling is one of the activities covered by the programme, with the government linking the initiative to environmental and health objectives.
Participants are required to complete the specified distance before submitting the supporting evidence through the programme’s portal. Those who meet the requirements can receive Green Credits valued at Rs 20,000.
The programme’s slogan promotes cycling as a way to support environmental protection and personal wellbeing, stating: “Cycle, save the environment and earn a reward.”
