Punjab Police have dismissed social media claims that a Rs2,000 traffic challan caused the death of a rickshaw driver in Sambrial, in district Sialkot.

A video shared on X claims that the man was the father of three daughters and a newborn son. It says he left home in the morning to earn for his children and that traffic wardens, who it claimed face pressure to issue challans, fined him despite his pleas.

The video claims he died by suicide after jumping into a canal.

However, the Punjab Police rejected that claim. They said Ali Raza, 36, died on October 24, 2026. His family told police that he had spent several days under mental stress because of problems at home.

Police also checked their records. They found no challan issued against him since January 1, and they said neither a police nor a traffic official had stopped him.

The police urged the public to stop sharing unverified information.
