The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has sealed multiple branches of the fast-food chain KFC across Lahore, alleging tax non-compliance, media reports have said.
A total of five KFC outlets have been sealed by the authority. The affected locations include the branches situated in DHA EME, Askari 10, and DHA Z Block.
Official responses from KFC management regarding the enforcement action is awaited.
The development follows recent regulatory actions by the provincial revenue body. Days prior to this event, the PRA sealed multiple locations of the Lahore’s famous coffee chain Double Shot. Those enforcement actions were initiated over the alleged misreporting of sales data and direct violations of electronic invoicing rules.
The official order against the coffee shop was issued under Section 59A of the Punjab Sales Tax on Services Act, 2012.
According to the text of the PRA order, the business allegedly bypassed the mandatory Electronic Invoice Monitoring System and under-declared its taxable sales.
Similar tax enforcement measures have expanded into the federal capital. In Islamabad, authorities sealed a Red Apple outlet located in the F-6 Markaz. This closure was executed over allegations involving the issuance of unverified sales tax receipts to consumers.
Initial reports from the federal capital show that the premises were sealed after concerns emerged regarding the alleged issuance of non-authenticated or improper tax invoices.
