Rain threatening Pak-India clash? Latest weather update

News Desk

Feb 22

Dubai International Cricket Stadium, famously known as the 'Ring of Fire', is all set to host the much-anticipated Pakistan vs India clash in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Fans from both sides of the border are waiting with baited breath for the thrilling encounter, but there's one question on many minds—can rain impact the match?

Dubai has recently experienced cool winds at night, and on Tuesday, February 18, the city received rainfall, raising concerns for upcoming games. Similar fears arose ahead of the India vs Bangladesh match on Thursday, especially after hail and rain hit Jebel Jais, Ras Al Khaimah—the highest peak in the UAE. However, the India-Bangladesh game remained unaffected.

According to the UAE Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of light rain in Dubai on Sunday night and early Monday morning. However, weather experts believe that if it does rain, it will be for a short duration, making it unlikely to disrupt the match significantly.

Temperature & Match Conditions

Weather forecast for Sunday in Dubai predicts:
Daytime temperature: 33°C
Night temperature: 20°C

With cooler temperatures at night, players might experience pleasant playing conditions, but occasional wind gusts could play a role.

Under the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 regulations, there is no reserve day for group-stage matches. This means that if rain does interrupt the game, overs may be reduced, or in extreme cases, the match could end without a result.
