A honey-trap gang involving a police head constable has been uncovered in Rawalpindi, leading to the registration of a criminal case against five suspects.
According to reports, authorities took action following the verification of extortion allegations levelled by a citizen targeted by the group. The gang allegedly lured the citizen into a compromising situation before demanding a sum of Rs 5 million.
After negotiations, the suspects allegedly settled for Rs1.1 million.
According to the complaint filed by the family of the man, the police official involved attempted to shield the gang by having the involved woman file a false case of sexual assault against Shiraz.
The family of the survivor submitted a formal request to the City Police Officer (CPO), after which a preliminary inquiry conducted by senior police officials confirmed the claims.
While Head Constable Laraib and four accomplices have been named in the FIR [First Information Report], the investigation into the incident remains ongoing as authorities work to determine the full extent of the gang’s criminal operations and identify potential additional victims.
