A bride has been killed, allegedly by her cousin at a beauty parlour in Lodhran on Thursday, just hours before her wedding.

According to reports, Muddassir Mahboob, 30, had sought to marry his cousin Sidra, but her family turned down his proposal and fixed her marriage to another man, to take place on Thursday. 

Sidra was visiting a salon in the city for wedding makeup  when Muddassir allegedly walked in, pulled out a knife, and slit her throat. She died on the spot.

A CCTV clip circulating widely on X shows the suspect waiting outside the salon before entering. Moments later, a crowd gathers at the scene.

After the attack, Muddassir turned the knife on himself, slitting his own throat before losing consciousness on the spot.

Police and rescue teams moved Sidra’s body to the mortuary for post-mortem examination. Muddassir was taken to Lodhran DHQ Hospital, and given his critical condition, was later transferred to Bahawal Victoria Hospital.

Police have said an investigation into the murder is underway.
