At least seven individuals have been killed and 33 others sustained injuries following a series of rain-related accidents across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over the past 24 hours.

Severe weather conditions, characterized by torrential downpours and fierce winds, caused widespread structural damage in several districts, including Bannu, Shangla, and Mansehra.

According to reports from the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) issued on Sunday, the fatalities included four men, one woman, and two children. The destructive weather led to numerous incidents of roof and wall collapses. Among the 33 individuals injured during the storms were seven men, 12 women, and 14 children.

The severe weather coincided with a prior alert from the Pakistan Meteorological Department, which had forecast widespread dust storms, rain, and thunderstorms across the upper regions of the country.

In response to the casualties, the PDMA confirmed that its Emergency Operations Centre remains fully operational. The authority is currently coordinating with Rescue 1122 and local district administrations to expedite relief operations and provide immediate assistance to the affected families.

The Director General of the PDMA has urged members of the public to exercise extreme caution and avoid unnecessary travel, particularly to vulnerable tourist destinations in the region.

Citizens requiring emergency assistance or information have been advised to contact the official government helpline at 1700. This latest wave of severe weather comes just weeks after similar storms hit the province in May, which resulted in two deaths and left 11 others injured.
