Social media influencer Aroob Jatoi has urged fashion designers to focus on modest, comfortable and practical clothing, saying that most people do not wear revealing outfits in their everyday lives.
During an interview the influencer criticised the perception that more revealing clothes automatically make someone look better. She said designers should consider the preferences of the general public when creating their collections.
When the interviewer asked about revealing clothes, Jatoi agreed with the view that they were not her preferred choice, prompting a discussion about the fashion industry’s approach to designing outfits.
“I think that designers, some of them feel that the more revealing [the clothes are], the better. But it’s not like that,” she remarked.
Jatoi added, “90 percent of our general public does not wear such clothes, so you should make clothes that we can actually wear.”
Discussing what she considers the biggest mistake in Pakistan’s fashion industry, she said some people associate revealing outfits with looking better.
“They feel that the more revealing the clothes are, the better you will look,” she said. “I think it’s just not how things work.”
Aroob Jatoi is the wife of Pakistani YouTuber Saad-ur-Rehman, popularly known as Ducky Bhai. The couple married in January 2023.
