Actress Saboor Aly has added her voice to growing public criticism over the unresolved murder of Mir Raza Ali, a young Karachi entrepreneur whose death is still being investigated.

She reposted a reel that draws a comparison between how quickly former cricketer Wasim Akram’s missing pet dog was traced and how long the search for those responsible for Raza Ali’s abduction and death has dragged on.

The comparison stems from two stories that broke around the same time.

Wasim Akram’s pet dog, Duke, went missing from the DHA Phase 8 area in Karachi. The family announced a reward of Rs 250,000 for anyone who helped locate him. The dog was found safe within a day.

Around the same time, Mir Raza Ali, the 25-year-old founder of the Wafflix dessert chain, went missing from his home in PECHS after leaving early in the morning and was later found dead near Gulistan-i-Jauhar. A case was registered on suspicion of abduction and murder. Weeks on, the case remains unresolved.

The comparison drawn in the reel has sparked mixed reactions online.

One user wrote, “I don’t really get how come these two incidents are relatable.”

Another wrote, “Saans tuh janwar bhi laitey hain or insan bhi..!! Per yahan insano ki kadar nhi ..!! 😢😢.”

A fourth added, “Because his father don’t had 250000 rupees.”

In the latest update on the investigation, police say they have found evidence pointing to financial troubles in Raza Ali’s business and are now also examining the possibility of suicide, even though several details still support the murder theory. Investigators say they hope to resolve the case soon, though unresolved questions remain, including the missing pistol and the exact circumstances of his final hours.
