Twenty-five sacrificial goats worth around Rs1.9 million were stolen from Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Jauhar area, police said on Monday.

According to SHO (Station House Officer) of Malir Cantt Agha Abdul Rasheed, the animals had been kept at an empty plot in Block 8 after being purchased by a local resident ahead of Eidul Azha. A watchman had also been hired to guard the goats.

The officer said that on Saturday night, three to four suspects arrived at the location in a Suzuki van and took away all the animals.

The watchman informed police that he was awake at the time of the incident, but the suspects covered his face with a cloth before fleeing with the goats.

Police have collected CCTV footage from the surrounding area and asked the owner to register an FIR [First Information Report] for legal action.

However, the owner has so far shown reluctance in pursuing the case, according to the SHO.
