Pakistani actor Emmad Irfani has set social media abuzz after sharing a series of pictures on Instagram from a trip to London, with fans drawing comparisons to World Cup-winning captain and former Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan and calling him the ideal choice to portray the cricket legend in a biopic.
The photographs quickly went viral. Users flooded the comments section noting a striking resemblance to Imran Khan, particularly his iconic look from the 1990s.
“Khan Sahib!” wrote one fan. “He will do justice to the biopic,” said another. Others were more direct: “Same to same,” and “Perfect for IK biopic.” One user admitted: “I thought he is… IK.”
Emmad Irfani began his career as a fashion model in 2000, working with designers including HSY, Khaadi and Nomi Ansari.
He transitioned to acting in 2013 with a supporting role in Aasmanon Pay Likha on Geo TV, before landing his first lead role in Saya-e-Dewar Bhi Nahi in 2014, where his performance as Malik Mansoor earned him critical recognition.
He went on to appear in several notable dramas including Mah-e-Tamaam, Cheekh, Jalan and Titli.
His most recent standout role came in the hit 2024 drama Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum alongside Fahad Mustafa and Hania Aamir, which he has described as the best experience of his career.
Imran Khan played international cricket from 1971 to 1992 and is widely regarded as one of the greatest all-rounders the game has produced.
He captained Pakistan from 1982 and led the team to their first and only Cricket World Cup title in 1992, defeating England in the final in Melbourne.
He scored over 3,800 runs and took more than 360 wickets in Test cricket before retiring after the World Cup win.
He later founded the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital in Lahore in 1994, entered politics by founding Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in 1996, and became Prime Minister of Pakistan in August 2018, a position he held until he was removed through a no-confidence vote in April 2022.
He has been imprisoned at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi since August 5, 2023.
