Veteran Pakistani actress and director Sangeeta has revealed that she has gotten married for the third time, sharing details about her previous marriages and explaining why she chose companionship later in life.
Speaking on a podcast, Sangeeta said that her first marriage was to Humayun Qureshi while her second was to Naveed Akbar. She said that she is now married to Tariq Mendro, whom she described as a member of the film industry and a distributor. According to Sangeeta, the couple got married around 14 years ago.
The actress explained that she decided to marry again after her daughters got married and she found herself living alone. “My husband then proposed to me multiple times, and I thought one should have a companion in old age,” she said.
Sangeeta also spoke about what she considers an important quality in her husband, saying that he does not use abusive language, hit women or engage in unnecessary fights. She said that even when she becomes angry, her husband prefers to leave the room quietly, adding that both of them tend to remain silent when upset. “That’s why we don’t fight, and our marriage is working well,” she stated.
Discussing her previous relationships, Sangeeta spoke about physical abuse and said it was a major reason behind her decision to seek divorce. She described physical violence as a serious red flag in a marriage, stressing that she had endured repeated abuse during her earlier relationships. “I faced a lot; I used to reach the studio with bruises,” she revealed.
Sangeeta has remained active in Pakistan’s entertainment industry as both an actress and director. Her television work includes dramas such as Kis Din Mera Viyah Howe Ga, Meri Behen Meri Dewarani, Bari Phupo, Quddusi Sahab Ki Bewa and Abba. As a director, she has worked on films including Society Girl, Nikah and Sona Chaandi.
She is currently associated with the upcoming feature film Mukho, starring Saima, Moammar Rana, Meera and Layla, as well as the drama Bhulley Shah.
