Veteran Pakistani actress and director Sangeeta has opened up about her decision to remove Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum actress Naeema Butt from one of her projects.
Sangeeta spoke to journalist Ambreen Fatima from the set of Mukho, where she made surprising claims about Naeema.
“It is true that I was initially working with Naeema Butt, but I am a director who can’t tolerate unnecessary tantrums from actresses,” Sangeeta said. “She started giving suggestions about casting the heroes of her choice, which I refused. I then apologised to her and asked for my advance back, and she returned the advance money.”
She added, “I mean, you are just a newcomer, while I have been in this field for 50 years. How can you be advising me? Yes, she is doing dramas, and that’s good for her. Although it was a great opportunity and a good role for her, I took it back because of her tantrums.”
Sangeeta concluded, “As actors, we had never shown tantrums and attitude on the set.”
Sangeeta built her career as both an actress and director in Pakistani television and film. Her notable dramas include Kis Din Mera Viyah Howe Ga, Meri Behen Meri Dewarani, Bari Phupo, and Quddusi Sahab Ki Bewa. She has also directed Lollywood hits such as Society Girl, Nikah, and Sona Chaandi. She is currently directing the upcoming film Mukho, starring Saima, Moammar Rana, Meera, and Layla, along with the mega drama Bhulley Shah, featuring Saima, Shahid, Ayesha Fayyaz, Kamran Mujahid, and Zaviyar Nauman.
