A 15-year-old girl working as a sanitary worker in the waste management company at Kacha Khu, Khanewal district, was allegedly gang-raped by two men on Tuesday while she was on her way home after duty.
According to her father- the girl referred to as U was lured away by two suspects, Z and S, who allegedly assaulted her.
The incident occurred after her shift had ended.
Upon receiving the report, police reached the scene and shifted the victim to a hospital for medical treatment.
A case has been registered against both suspects, who have so far managed to evade capture.
Police say efforts are underway to arrest them.
In a separate incident, Shazia Bibi, 36, was taken to the burn unit of Nishtar Hospital in Multan after she allegedly tried to commit suicide by burning herself alive.
The incident took place in Makhdum Rashid, her daughter Mahnoor told the police.
According to Mahnoor, her mother attempted self-immolation after a domestic dispute with her husband Khalid Mahmood.
After receiving initial treatment for the severe burn injuries, Shazia Bibi was sent to Multan for more specialized treatment.
Makhdum Rashid police responded to the incident and have arrested Khalid Mahmood.
To find out the circumstances underlying the incident, an investigation is currently in progress.
Local communities have been shocked by both cases, which have sparked serious worries about women's and girls' safety and mental wellness.
