A new Indian drama is facing plagiarism accusations online, with fans pointing to striking similarities with the smash hit Pakistani show Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum.
The show in question, Qubool Hai, stars real-life couple Mohit and Sanaya. Viewers have drawn direct comparisons between some of its scenes and the Pakistani drama that starred Fahad Mustafa as Mustafa and Hania Aamir as Sharjeena.
The backlash centred on a scene in which a female character cooks for the family and is offered money by another woman, a moment fans immediately recognised from Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum, where Sharjeena cooks for the household and Rubab attempts to tip her, turning into a bitter exchange between the two.
Social media users took to various platforms to vent their surprise.
“Full copy of Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum,” wrote one user. “They cannot carry it like Hania and Naeema,” said another.
Some were more blunt: “Lol they’re copying Pakistani dramas now,” “Kabhi main kabhi tum sasti copy,” and “Ye to copy kr dia hania k drame ko” wrote a few.
The cooking scene was not the only moment fans flagged. Viewers pointed to multiple scenes across the drama they believe were lifted from the Pakistani show.
This is not the first time Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum has been at the centre of such comparisons.
In 2025, fans flagged similar accusations against Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, one of India’s longest-running serials. Viewers at the time pointed to scenes where leads Armaan and Abhira leave a wealthy household to start over in a small home, mirroring the journey of Mustafa and Sharjeena. Character styling, including Sharjeena’s signature salwar and T-shirt look, was also replicated.
Aired in 2024, Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum became one of Pakistan’s biggest drama hits. The series crossed 1.4 billion views on YouTube and was among the most-searched Pakistani dramas of 2024.
