A security guard accused of sexually assaulting a sixth-grade student at a girls’ elementary school in Siddiqabad, Multan, has been arrested after the child reported the incident to her family two days later.
According to the FIR [First Information Report], the suspect, identified as Munir Ahmed, allegedly assaulted the student in the school canteen and threatened to kill her family if she disclosed the incident at home.
The girl later told her family about the alleged assault, prompting them to approach the police and file a complaint. Police registered a case against Ahmed, who worked as a security guard at the school, and arrested him.
Multan City Police Officer (CPO) Akhtar Farooq said that the survivor had undergone an initial medical examination, which confirmed sexual assault. He added that further legal proceedings were underway.
The case comes amid another reported sexual assault involving a minor in southern Punjab, where police arrested a suspect within two hours of the incident in Kot Addu by tracing him through Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) footage, Chief Minister(CM) of Punjab Maryam Nawaz said on Tuesday.
In a post on X, Maryam condemned the alleged assault of the three-year-old girl and referred to the suspect’s young age. “Look at his age and look at the heinous act he has committed. Heartbreaking,” she wrote.
Police identified the suspect as Lakhmir Bala, a street vegetable hawker in the area. According to details shared by police, he allegedly lured the child away before sexually assaulting her.
Police registered the case on the father’s complaint in Chak 571 TDA, within the jurisdiction of Sarwar Shaheed tehsil. The child is receiving treatment at Nishtar Hospital in Multan, where she is reportedly battling for her life. A medical examination confirmed that she had suffered sexual assault.
