Security forces have killed 10 militants and arrested two female suicide bombers along with their facilitator during Intelligence-Based Operations in Balochistan’s Surab and Mastung districts over the past 48 hours, the military’s media wing said on Wednesday.
In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated that seven militants were killed in Surab, while three were killed in Mastung. The two female suicide bombers and their facilitator were also apprehended in Mastung.
According to ISPR, the operations formed part of an ongoing campaign against what it described as the “terrorist nexus of India-sponsored Fitna al Hindustan and Fitna al Khawarij” in Balochistan.
Security forces conducted multiple intelligence-based, area sanitisation and targeted operations in both districts, during which they engaged suspected militant positions and recovered weapons, ammunition and Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).
The ISPR confirmed that the two female suicide bombers and their facilitator arrested in Mastung belonged to Fitna al Hindustan.
“Sanitisation operations are being conducted to eliminate any other India-sponsored terrorist found in the area,” the statement said.
It added that Pakistan’s counterterrorism campaign under the Azm-i-Istehkam strategy, approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan, would continue “at full pace” against what it described as foreign-sponsored terrorism.
The operations come amid heightened security concerns in Balochistan.
Earlier this month, security forces and law enforcement agencies launched Operation Shaban following a deadly attack on a police post at the Mangi Dam pumping station in Ziarat on July 6.
According to reports, at least 129 militants have since been killed during the operation.
