Security forces have killed 27 terrorists affiliated with the Indian-sponsored Fitna al-Khwarij in a series of Intelligence-Based Operations (IBOs) in the North Waziristan district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP), the military’s media wing said Sunday.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated that security forces targeted multiple khwarij locations in the general area of Miranshah over the past 72 hours.
“Following intense fierce exchanges of fire, in the last seventy-two hours, twenty-seven khwarij belonging to Indian-sponsored Fitna al-Khwarij have been sent to hell,” the ISPR stated.
Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from those killed, who the ISPR said had been involved in terrorist activities and the targeted killing of civilians. The state uses the term Fitna al-Khwarij to refer to terrorists affiliated with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
The ISPR added that by eliminating this group, the killing of prominent figure Shaheed Malik Saifullah Dawar in Miranshah had been avenged. Sanitisation operations, it noted, were continuing in the area under the ongoing Azm-e-Istehkam counterterrorism campaign.
Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif paid tribute to the security forces, saying the operations reflected the professionalism and effectiveness of the country’s security apparatus. “The entire nation stands shoulder to shoulder with its security forces for the eradication of the scourge of terrorism,” he said.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also praised the forces, saying timely action had foiled the terrorists’ plans. “The nation takes pride in its brave security forces personnel,” Naqvi said.
