Kot Shakir police in Jhang’s Athara Hazari tehsil have arrested a seminary teacher on Saturday for allegedly raping a 12-year-old student at a madrassa.
The boy’s father, a resident of Kot Langar, told police in his FIR [First Information Report] that his son was a resident student at Madressah Hameedul Islam in village Chanda.
According to the complaint, the teacher overpowered the boy in a room on the upper storey of the seminary on Friday night and raped him.
Doctors at Athara Hazari Tehsil Headquarters Hospital conducted a medical examination of the child and confirmed rape. Police then arrested the suspect.
In a separate incident, a five-year-old girl who had accompanied her father to madrassa for Friday prayers in Tando Adam was allegedly raped and killed.
Police said that the child had arrived at the madrassa with her father to attend Friday prayers but went missing shortly afterwards. An investigation was launched following her disappearance, leading to the arrest of a suspect.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sanghar said that the arrested suspect confessed during the investigation to sexually assaulting the child before killing her.
Police said that the girl died after a piece of paper was forced into her mouth. The suspect allegedly left her body near the gate of the madrassa before fleeing the scene, police added.
