A senior Pakistani intelligence official has rejected recent reports published by German media outlets about a possible US ground invasion of Iran, dismissing claims attributed to unnamed local security sources as entirely false.
Speaking to the state television, the high-ranking security official confirmed that no official or intelligence representative from Pakistan had engaged with any foreign news organization concerning regional developments.
“No Pakistani intelligence or official source has spoken to any foreign media outlet on the situation in the Gulf…all attributions to ‘Pakistani sources’ are fictional, imaginary and self-invented,” the official noted.
The official condemned the attributions as fictional, imaginary, and self-invented, emphasizing that official state positions are communicated strictly through authorized governmental channels.
Two German publications cited Islamabad-based sources as saying that Washington DC might launch a limited military incursion to seize Iranian coastal regions.
The foreign reports also highlighted Pakistan’s ongoing diplomatic mediation alongside Qatar to defuse tensions in the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
Tensions in the Gulf region re-escalated in July after a fragile period of peace after US and Iran signed the Islamabad MoU. The brief pause that followed the recent tensions broke late Tuesday night, as America claimed to have thwarted surprise strikes from Iran.
Pakistani authorities have cautioned international observers against relying on unverified attributions during delicate regional dynamics urging media outlets to exercise restraint and verify information through official state representatives.
