Pakistan’s former cricket team captain Shahid Afridi wants Shaheen Afridi to remain the T20 team captain.

After speculation took hold that Babar Azam will once again become captain, Afridi spoke in favor of his son-in-law and captain of the national Twenty20 team, Shaheen Afridi.

While talking to media at a football event in Karachi’s area Ibrahim Haidari, Shahid Afridi said, “In Pakistan, when the faces change, the system also changes. The newcomer thinks that the one who did the work before has done wrong.”

He said, “The one who is given the captaincy should be given time, the decision was either wrong or what will happen now will be wrong.”

Talking about Kakul trainig camp, he said, “The experience of the training camp in Kakul has also been good, there training makes a difference in fitness. Those who are not selected for the series against New Zealand should get more training in Kakul.”

In responce to a question about the selection committee, Shahid Afridi said, “The decision to empower the selection committee is good.”
Talking about the retirement of Imad Wasim and Muhammad Amir, he said, “The decision of Muhammad Amir and Imad Wasim to retire earlier was wrong, both of them still have cricket left in them. Both are talented, they will have to be a part of domestic cricket as well.”

In November last year, the former chairman of the management committee, Zaka Ashraf, removed Babar Azam from the captaincy, after which Shaheen Afridi was appointed as the captain of the national T20 and Shan Masood as the captain of the Test team.
