Sidra Aziz has publicly defended her sister, prominent actor Iqra Aziz, after a netizen claimed that her marriage to actor and writer Yasir Hussain had negatively impacted her professional career.
The online discourse began when a social media user asserted that Iqra Aziz’s career prospects declined following her marriage. “Why no one talks about the fact that Iqra Aziz had such a promising career… until she decided to marry a munh phatt badtameez [outspoken ill-mannered person] and now no one wants to sign her.”
Responding directly to the claim, Sidra dismissed the claims, advising the public to “stop assuming stories about people’s lives”. She clarified that her sister recently “filmed a Netflix series” and while she is taking care of two kids these days, she is reading scripts and will start a project soon.
Conversely, multiple users supported the actress, with one questioning the societal assumption that marriage halts professional achievements by writing, “So being married means ur career is no more? Ajeeb [sic]!”.
Another user noted, “Agar career ki wajha se woh apni zindgi khraab kr leti to bhi logon ne sukoon nai lena tha [People wouldn’t have been at peace even if she had ruined her life because of her career].”
Additional public reactions showed several commenters defending the couple’s personal choices.
An Instagram user wrote, “I think she made a right choice at a right time. She had earned a lot of money and fame already.”
Others also sprung into action to defend the couple, saying, “their life, their choice”.
