Pakistani singer and music composer Waqar Ali has revealed that he has been diagnosed with Stage IV lung cancer.

He asked fans and well-wishers to pray for his recovery.

Ali shared the news on his official Instagram account with a photo of himself in a hospital bed. He is hooked up to IVs in the photo while his throat appears bandaged.

In a long caption, he addressed his friends, fans and well-wishers. “I have recently been diagnosed with Stage IV lung cancer,” he wrote. “This is a difficult chapter in my life for both my family and me, but I am taking things one day at a time, with faith, courage, and hope in my heart.”

He explained why he chose to share the news. “It is never easy to share news like this, but I feel it is important to speak to all of you who have been a part of my journey,” he wrote. He said music has always been his way of connecting with people. “Today, I humbly ask you for something deeply personal; please remember me in your prayers.”

Ali closed the message with a note of faith. “I may not know what tomorrow holds, but I know the power of prayers, the strength of faith, and the comfort of knowing that so many hearts are wishing me well.”

Celebrities filled the comment section with prayers. Music producer Saad Hayat wrote, “Inshallah sab acha hoga. Best wishes and prayers for you, Waqar bhai.” Bushra Ansari wrote, “Allah will protect you, Inshallah!” Shugufta Ejaz also sent her prayers and urged him to keep faith. Zhalay Sarhadi wished him well too.

Ali is one of Pakistan’s best-known television music composers. He is the son of classical singer Shafqat Hussein and often works with his elder brother, singer Sajjad Ali. He has composed songs for drama serials such as Mayi Ri, Khuda Mera Bhi Hai and Parizaad.
