A speeding gas bowser hit a car head-on and overturned on the Coastal Highway in the 2-B area of Ormara, Gwadar district, on Wednesday, killing six members of a family. The car caught fire immediately after the impact, leaving the occupants trapped inside.
All six people in the car, including the driver, lost their lives on the spot as the car caught fire after the accident while the passengersvsitting in the car did not get a chance to get out of the burning car, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Highway Police Muhammad Aslam Bangulzai said.
The victims were traveling from Karachi to Turbat when the collision took place. The deceased include two men, two women, and two children.
Highway and local police officers reached the location after receiving reports of the crash. Rescuers moved the six bodies to the Ormara district hospital for official procedures.
Authorities identified the deceased passengers as Inspector Ataullah of the Fisheries Department and his family members. Officials identified the driver of the vehicle as Aslam.
The crash forced authorities to suspend traffic on the Coastal Highway for several hours. Highway police officers cleared the wreckage from the road later in the day and restored the movement of vehicles.
In a separate incident on the Quetta-Karachi Highway near Winder, a speeding trailer hit a motorcycle, killing two riders. Medical staff at a nearby hospital received the bodies before handing them over to the relatives of the victims.
