The Ambassador of Iran to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam, extended gratitude to the citizens and the government of Pakistan for their participation in the funeral of leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Moghadam lauded the actions of Pakistan “at the highest possible level.”

“I wish to convey my profound gratitude to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, and all other distinguished officials, as well as eminent religious scholars, political figures and cultural personalities for their valuable presence at this historic occasion and for expressing their solidarity with the Government and People of Iran,” he said.

The envoy added, “This meaningful and historical gesture reflects the depth of the historic ties and shared values that have united Iran and Pakistan through the trials and triumphs of history.” He stated that the nations “have consistently shared one another’s joys and sorrows, standing shoulder to shoulder in a spirit of solidarity, brotherhood, and mutual support”.

Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif traveled with Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Ishaq Dar, ministers, and officials on July 3.

During the stay in Tehran, the Prime Minister conveyed condolences to the leadership of Iran and the family on behalf of Pakistan. The journey took place to express solidarity after the assassination of Ayatollah Khamenei in strikes by the United States (US) and Israel on February 28.

Additionally, Speaker of the Parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf held a meeting with the leader of Hamas, Mohammad Darwish. Ghalibaf stated that diplomacy must preserve gains from the battlefield and requires backing from capabilities of defense.

He noted that negotiations resolve conflicts if the country maintains readiness for defense.

During negotiations with the US, Tehran demanded that agreements include respect for the integrity of territory of nations in the region and an end to actions against allies in the front of resistance

During a meeting with the Vice President of Yemen, Mohammed Al-Nuaimi, Ghalibaf labeled the memorandum an achievement for the axis of resistance. He stated, “The United States and Israel were forced to practically recognise Iran’s allies in the Axis of Resistance, and this is one of the achievements of this memorandum.”

Ghalibaf called the document a “defeat for the United States and an achievement for the Axis of Resistance, both militarily and politically.”

The procession for the funeral of Khamenei and members of the family commenced in Tehran on Monday, according to transmissions from the broadcaster of the state. Videos showing hundreds of thousands of mourners attending the funeral have been doing the rounds on social media.
