Indian singer Sonu Nigam has expressed deep gratitude for legendary Pakistani singer Attaullah Esakhelvi, saying that the veteran artist played a big role in his career.
In a recent interview, Sonu said, “Definitely, he is a beautiful soul and holds great importance in my life. I had just started my career covering his songs. He called me and said, ‘Mr. Sonu, I am Attaullah Esakhelvi from Pakistan, and I want to tell you that you sang it really well.’”

Sonu added, “I was just 19 at that time. It was very kind of him. I pray for all those legendary singers who contributed to my success.”
Expressing his gratitude, he added, “I am indebted to him. I credit all my success to him, and Acha Sila was the turning point of my career, a song that was heard by every person in India.”
Sonu Nigam, often called the Mohammed Rafi of the modern era, is one of Bollywood’s most celebrated playback singers. His career spans decades, with hit songs like Kal Ho Naa Ho, Sandese Aate Hai, Abhi Mujh Mein Kahin, Suraj Hua Maddham, and Main Agar Kahoon.
