Demonstrators repeatedly interrupted Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth during his testimony before a Senate committee, shouting down his opening remarks on the Trump administration’s defense budget.

“Stop bombing our children in Iran and Palestine, this is illegal!” one woman shouted as Hegseth attempted to present a supplemental funding request.

Hegseth faced at least two additional interruptions while trying to finish his opening statement. The outbursts prompted Senate Appropriations Chair Susan Collins to call for intervention from Capitol Police.

“I would ask that the Capitol Police, whose professionalism I admire, remove those who are seeking to disrupt the hearing,” Collins stated.

Following the removals, Hegseth resumed his remarks, arguing that withholding funds from the department presents a major security concern.

The interruptions generated intense backlash on social media worldwide, with netizens voicing strong opinions on the confrontation and the administration’s policy.

One user wrote, “Hegseth is a war criminal so is the Trump administration. While they are complicit in g*nocide in Gaza and complicit on what’s going on in Lebanon and Iran. I can see why this administration wants to attempt to get rid of the ICC.”

Another commenter shared, “Keep on interrupting these nutjobs. Make it clear that we don’t want this war shit! Make them go crazy! Good for these civilians.”

A third user questioned, “Does he even know his boss is going to throw him under the bus at any moment? He must, right?”

Pointing to the legal implications of military action, a commenter posted, “If @PeteHegseth and his audiences know that bombing children and civilians is illegal, what should we call this meeting? A genocidal democracy?”

Another person noted, “Seems like the protesters got their Testosterone shots.”

Expressing frustration over government spending, one account stated, “Tax payer, please be quiet while I ask to take your hard earned money to commit more war crimes.”

Calling for Hegseth’s departure, a user remarked, “Good. Fuck that incompetent murderer. Hegseth is the worst SecDef in American history.”

Another added, “Hegseth deserves to be interrupted.” A user shared, “I wonder how a superpower country ended up with these clowns.”
