Rahim Yar Khan’s Khwaja Fareed University of Engineering and Information Technology (KFUEIT) has formed an inquiry committee after allegations surfaced on social media accusing a university lecturer of harassing a female student.
The allegations emerged through screenshots shared online, with the student claiming that the lecturer sent her inappropriate messages, made sexual advances, pressured her to meet him and threatened academic consequences if she refused.
In the screenshots of the alleged messages shared online, the lecturer asked the student to have sex with him. The student responded, “You are like my father.” She later writes, “You should know that I can show your messages to the head of the department.”
The lecturer allegedly replied, “You are my favourite, you know that,” and asked her to attend his calls. In another alleged message, he told her, “You should sleep with me and securing grades won’t be a problem.”
The student also alleged that the lecturer offered her better marks and grades and contacted her repeatedly through WhatsApp, SMS and phone calls.
She claimed to have kept records of the communications and said that she had also informed the vice chancellor about the matter through email.
The allegations have not been independently verified.
KFUEIT said that reports and claims involving students and faculty members had been circulating on social media but no formal written complaint had been received from any student so far.
The university said that it formed the inquiry committee to examine the claims and establish the facts. The committee will review the available information, screenshots and other relevant records before submitting its recommendations to the university administration.
The administration added that it will investigate the matter under the applicable rules and procedures if a formal written complaint is submitted by a student or any other relevant person.
It said necessary action will follow if any violation is established.
KFUEIT said maintaining a safe and conducive academic environment for students remains one of its priorities and that matters involving academic standards and student safety will be handled under university rules and regulations.
