Social media influencer Sultan Virk among four were arrested in Naran after his Toyota Vigo sank in the Kunhar River as the group filmed a TikTok video.
According to police, the group drove the vehicle into the river despite Section 144 being in force in Mansehra district where authorities had barred people from going near rivers and other waterbodies due to safety risks.
The stunt went wrong while the men were filming, with all four falling into the fast-flowing river. Rescue teams pulled them out safely before the situation turned fatal.
Police later took all four men into custody and presented them before a court. They were identified as Sultan s/o Zahid Jameel, Ali Usman s/o Shahbaz, Mohsin Khan s/o Muhammad Zaman and Asif Ali s/o of Muhammad Akram of Sheikhupura.
Virk’s involvement gave the incident wider attention online as he is known for his flashy rural landlord lifestyle and self-styled persona as the “Sultan of Virkgarh”.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sadaqat Khan said that the Vigo, which had been swept away by the Kunhar River, was recovered on Thursday.
