A young man in Shakargarh, Punjab, has been allegedly beaten over a comment he made on social media, police have said, adding that a case has been registered and one suspect has been arrested.
According to the police, a resident of the Sarjal area of Shakargarh had commented on a video on TikTok, after which he was assaulted with punches and kicks.
Police have said that the suspects also filmed the assault and the video later went viral on social media.
The victim said that despite submitting an application, a case was not registered immediately.
Police have confirmed now that a case has been registered on the complaint of the victim against 10 named suspects and 10 unidentified persons. One suspect involved in the incident has been arrested, while raids are being conducted to arrest the remaining suspects.
