A woman was killed and six others injured in a suspected drone strike in the Pastawana area of the Hassan Khel subdivision on the outskirts of Peshawar late Tuesday night.
Reports said that seven people, all belonging to the same family, were immediately taken to hospital after the incident, adding that one of the injured, a woman, was seriously wounded and later succumbed to her injuries.
Separately, the military said that the Afghan Taliban regime had launched four rudimentary drones across the border into Balochistan as part of its patronage and support for terrorist outfits operating from territories under its control.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that the hostile aerial platforms were immediately detected by Pakistan’s air defence network.
“Demonstrating a high level of operational readiness, the security forces successfully neutralised all four incoming drones using sophisticated countermeasures. As a result of the swift and effective response, the hostile attempts were successfully foiled,” the military’s media wing said.
It added that such actions by the Afghan Taliban regime appeared to be aimed at misleading the Afghan population, which continues to suffer under its rule and that the Taliban should realise such behaviour only adds to the hardships faced by Afghans.
