Sydney Sweeney will not be appearing in The Devil Wears Prada 2 after her cameo was removed from the film following a “creative decision,” an international media outlet has reported.

The 28-year-old actor had filmed a scene alongside Emily Blunt that was meant to open the sequel. In it, Sweeney appeared as herself, a celebrity client being dressed by Blunt’s character, who has moved on from Runway magazine to work at Dior. The scene ran roughly three minutes.

The outlet reported that the sequence did not hold up structurally within the film’s final cut, though the crew acknowledged Sweeney’s participation in the shoot.

The rest of the sequel picks up where the original left off. Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep and Stanley Tucci reprise their roles as former Runway colleagues who track down Blunt’s character at Dior, seeking her help to rescue the struggling fashion magazine.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 arrives two decades after the original, which followed college graduate Andy Sachs played by Anne Hathaway as she landed a job assisting Miranda Priestly, the ruthless fashion editor brought to life by Meryl Streep. The first film was adapted from Lauren Weisberger’s novel, itself drawn from her time as assistant to Vogue editor Anna Wintour.

Joining the franchise this time around are Kenneth Branagh, Lucy Liu and Bridgerton’s Simone Ashley.
