TV host Tabish Hashmi found himself fielding a cheeky question from an audience member about his home life during a recent taping of his show, with guest Ali Abbas seated alongside him.
During a recent episode of Hasna Mana Hai, an audience member asked Hashmi whether he was as happy at home with his wife as he appeared on screen while hosting female guests.
“Sir, my question is: when you invite a female guest on your show, you seem so happy. Are you just as happy when you go home and see your wife,” Shazia asked.
Hashmi responded that his wife enjoys seeing him happy. “Of course I’m happy when I go home. She likes seeing that,” he said.
Shazia pressed further, asking if Hashmi thought about actresses Sajal Aly or Saba Qamar on his commute home before reaching.
Hashmi laughed off the suggestion and named a different actress instead. “No, no. I don’t go home thinking about Sajal Aly or anyone else. I don’t think about Sajal Aly, I… Mehwish Hayat [laugh],” he said, laughing.
Hashmi then turned the question back on Shazia, asking what lay behind it. “What’s the deeper meaning behind your question? Did my wife send you? Earlier you asked how our marriages are still going strong, and now this. So it wasn’t really a question, you were surprised that our marriages have lasted,” he exclaimed.
Shazia clarified that her question came with good intentions. She revealed she had brought a gift for Hashmi’s wife.
“No, sir. To make your wife happy, my bhabhi, I actually brought a gift for her,” Shazia revealed.
Hashmi asked to see the gift, and Shazia confirmed she had it with her, saying she wanted to give it to his wife directly.
“I’ll take it home,” Hashmi said, though Shazia insisted on delivering it herself. Hashmi eventually agreed, adding he would share more details later. “If I reveal everything on TV, a whole line of people will show up,” he pointed out.
Hashmi is best known for hosting “Hasna Mana Hai,” a comedy talk show that became the first Pakistani programme to cross one billion digital views and was named the country’s most watched comedy show of 2023.
Known for his sharp wit and background in stand-up comedy, he has interviewed many of Pakistan’s leading celebrities on the show.
He recently stepped into acting with a role in “Aag Lagay Basti Mein,” his film debut produced by Fahad Mustafa and co-starring Mahira Khan, in which Hashmi played a negative character.
